When setting up virtual marketplace DC locations in Zoho to track the physical stock you’ve sent to the distribution centres, it’s essential that each location is configured correctly.
Follow the steps below to ensure all marketplace DC locations are created as Warehouse Only Locations under a single Parent Business Location (e.g. Head Office).

1️⃣ Navigate to Warehouse Settings
  • Log in to your Zoho Inventory dashboard
  • Go to Settings (gear icon, top right)

  • Under the Location Type section, select Warehouse Only Location.
    • This ensures the DC acts as an inventory-only warehouse
    • This is critical for accurate stock routing and marketplace sync behaviour
  • Enter the Name of the marketplace DC, such as Takealot JHB, Makro DC, etc.

3️⃣ Assign the Correct Parent Location
  • Locate the Parent Location field
  • Select your main business location, e.g. Head Office
Why this matters:
  • Your Business Location acts as the financial parent
  • Your Warehouse Only Locations act as sub-locations purely for stock
  • This separation prevents accounting errors and ensures Wherehouse sync stock and orders correctly.

4️⃣ Save the Warehouse
  • Double-check the details.
  • Click Save to create the new marketplace DC warehouse.

✅ You’re Done!
Your marketplace DC is now correctly set up as a Warehouse-type Location under the correct Business-type parent location. You can repeat these steps for additional marketplaces or regions.
